EVERYONE IS INVITED! Join the International Children's Advisory Network, Inc. For iCAN’s youth 16 years and older, as well as iCAN’s Young Adult Professionals (current and prospective):

iCAN is hosting a tour and learning session at Pfizer for our Young Adult Professionals (YAP). This activity is available for those who are 16 and older and are interested in joining the YAP program in the future, as well as our current iCAN YAP members. This tour will take place either Tuesday or Thursday beginning at lunch through the early afternoon. Please see the below description of the session.

  • "The tour of the Pfizer La Jolla Oncology research facilities will cover two of many laboratories which are involved in early stage drug discovery efforts of new therapies for the treatment of various cancer diseases. The tour will be led by two scientists who are active members of the research teams. The first portion of the tour will cover the Structural Biology facilities. This group studies the structure and function of various proteins which are the key drivers of many of the tumors, and are the primary targets of directed cancer therapies. The second half of the tour will visit the Synthetic Chemistry laboratories. Colleagues within this department are primarily responsible for generating a multitude of novel chemical molecules, which are subsequently tested and optimized, eventually leading to development and commercialization of new medicines."
