Join us for luminous performances from two local poets, Eleanor Malbon and Sue Donnelly, as well as your own time to shine on our famous Open Mic!About the featured poets:
Eleanor Malbon lives and works on Ngunnawal and Ngambri land. She has performed poetry at festivals and events across Australia, including the You Are Here festival and the Crack Theatre festival. Her poems have been published nationally by Cordite, Grapple Publishing and Express Media, and internationally by New River Press. Her work has also appeared in public art commissions in Canberra and Newcastle. Eleanor’s writing has a distinctly ecological focus, shaped in part by residencies in Kosciuszko National Park (NSW), Hepburn Shire (VIC) and Devonshire (UK). She is a Fellow of Tipping Point Australia and a graduate of Dark Mountain’s New Myths programme, both centred on developing new language for ecological crisis and the age of endings. Eleanor has been honoured to be mentored twice by Ngunnawal Elders, guidance that continues to inform her creative practice as an uninvited occupier of country that was never ceded.
Sue Donnelly is a performance poet who is passionate about justice and the environment. Her work has been in numerous anthologies and included in Sarah St Vincent Welch's Kindred Trees and Karen Fearnside's artwork exhibited at M16. She is on the committee for That Poetry Thing and has been a guest speaker at the Botanic Gardens and other events. Sue is currently working on a new manuscript.
