King Baby Trio is a bold and uncompromising group built on deep pocket, fearless improvisation, and a reverence for groove. Featuring drummer Mark Raudabaugh (Sierra Hull), guitarist/vocalist Rick Lollar (Jamison Ross), and powerhouse bassist Kevin Scott (Gov’t Mule, Warren Haynes Band), the trio bridges the raw soul of Southern funk with the exploratory spirit of modern jazz. With years of shared history and an unmistakable onstage chemistry, King Baby Trio offers a sound that’s both deeply rooted and entirely their own—rich in texture, gritty in tone, and driven by a relentless sense of rhythm.
At the heart of the trio is Kevin Scott, a singular voice on electric bass and one of the most sought-after musicians of his generation. Known for his work with legends like John McLaughlin, Wayne Krantz, FORQ, Donny McCaslin, and Col. Bruce Hampton, Scott brings a unique blend of deep groove, harmonic sophistication, and fearless improvisation. As the current bassist for both Gov’t Mule and the Warren Haynes Band, he anchors King Baby Trio with authority and imagination, pushing the music into bold new territories. Alongside Raudabaugh’s versatile, session-honed drumming and Lollar’s soulful guitar work and expressive vocals, Scott elevates the trio into a category all its own—where grit meets grace, and tradition collides with the unknown.
