Thamesmead - with Philip Boyle, Tom Cordell, and James Lansbury

This walk will explore the history and future of Thamesmead, from it's inception in the early 1960s as a new town built within the administrative boundaries of London, hear the stories behind the failure of the Greater London Council to complete the scheme, and the subsequent changes that lead through to its current redevelopment. We will visit the Lesnes Estate occupation where there will be an event with speakers and the chance to meet residents and campaigners, and see the inside of housing slated for demolition.
