Drafts and Design is a partnership program among Tulsa Foundation for Architecture and Tulsa breweries that invites guests to participate in a wide variety of hands-on design workshops while enjoying locally crafted beer. From turning historic Tulsa photos into original works of art through hand-tinting to creating abstract punch needle wall hangings, Drafts and Design offers something unique for everyone. Workshops include all necessary supplies and tools and are led by expert facilitators. A variety of local beers may be purchased to enjoy during each workshop directly from the brewery.
Collage comes from the Greek word kolla meaning “glue.” As representation is its own type of project, collages are used to convey multi-layered atmospheres through drawing. Like glue, they bring fragments of images, sketches, patterns, materials and textures together. In turn, they define architectural and spatial concepts. Collages can be used for generating new ideas, to represent projects, or as part of the design method and process itself.
In this workshop, you’ll use the elements of art and principles of design to create an abstract collage on a wood art panel using copies of architectural blueprints from the TFA archives, historic Tulsa images, decorative papers, magazines, paint pens, colored pencils and other artistic media. All supplies are included and after the workshop you’ll take home a ready-to-hang original abstract work of art to enjoy for years to come.
ON WORKSHOP DAY: Please arrive early to grab a beverage and and get checked in. Instruction will begin promptly at 1:30 pm.
TICKET INFORMATION: Tickets for this workshop are $50 for not yet members and $37.50 for members (25% discount). All necessary supplies are included.
