Folk trio TEYR + guests perform material from their new album Estren released 30 April 2021
“Mixing it up to rousing effect, this accomplished trio’s intricate arrangements of uilleann pipes, accordion and guitar are in a class of their own.” THE OBSERVER
“...they are nimble-fingered and energetic, the lead flowing seamlessly between them...” FINANCIAL TIMES
“James Patrick Gavin’s fiddle and guitar trace deft lines around Tommie Black-
Roff’s accordion and Dominic Henderson’s pipes and whistle. Ian Stephenson’s
production is exceptionally polished too.” SUNDAY TIMES
“...another exhilarating collection of songs... the added lyrical depth and musical variety, the moral bite and the sensitivity to the world’s problems elevate them to the very top tier of today’s folk music.” FOLK RADIO UK

TEYR are excited to announce their return to live performance with a very special show to celebrate their critically acclaimed new album Estren. In the beautiful surroundings of Hackney’s Grade II listed Round Chapel James Patrick Gavin (fiddle and guitar), Tommie Black-Roff (accordion) and Dominic Henderson (uilleann pipes and whistles) will be joined by many of the guests who featured on the album including Flora Curzon (Fran & Flora), Nina Harries (Akram Khan), Sid Golsmith (Jimmy & Sid) and Ruth Corey (NYX).
Originally formed in London at the beginning of 2013 TEYR saw critical acclaim for their 2016 debut album Far From The Tree. In autumn 2018 they reunited in a Finnish log cabin to begin work on Estren, and over the course of the next two years paid numerous visits to their old writing haunt in West Cornwall to complete the musical process. Melding original compositions and songs, Estren tips its hat to the themes of travel, immigration and identity summed up in its title which is Cornish for ‘Stranger.’
