About this Event
Personal Bio
Patrick Susmilch began their stand-up odyssey 16 years ago at the tender age of 20. As a nerdy little bundle of anxiety, Patrick was so nervous about their first comedy set that they accidentally left their car running all night (with keys firmly in the ignition!) in the busy metropolitan streets of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Miraculously, their car was not stolen, and they went on to delight audiences across the United States - even appearing on three episodes of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”
More About the Show
A digital native, much of Patrick’s correspondence is through texting. As such every conversation remains stored on a server, endlessly accessible. Patrick would scroll through conversations with the deceased and share the silliest screenshots with those still alive as a way through the grieving process.
Patrick accumulated hundreds of screenshots, and realized this might be something that more people would want to see.
They put these screenshots, along with memes and dumb visual gags, into a 430 slide PowerPoint presentation (don’t worry, it’s only an hour!) and did a test performance at Maria Bamford’s house to a vociferous reception.
And thus, “Texts From my Dead Friends” was born and has since been performed in venues across Los Angeles.
