About this Event
In this session led by professional textile artist Louise, you will bring a favourite piece of text – a quote, saying, extract from a book, letter, email, poem or similar as a starting point to create a piece of unique textile art.
Firstly, you’ll learn different methods to translate writing into hand embroidery – including how to exactly copy handwriting of others, which is an excellent way to create a treasured keepsake.
A range of stitches will be introduced to you that are perfect for ‘writing’ with. Next we’ll move on to developing a design that compliments the text, and learn the different techniques and stitches that are appropriate to your design. Finally, we’ll look at ways to finish the work for display.
Please bring your chosen text with you, this can be on a device or phone or printed.
If you would like to attend Artful Embroidery in the morning and then Text in Textiles in the afternoon, select option for both when purchasing your ticket at the discounted rate of £45.
Please note - this workshop is suitable for beginners but they must be 18+
