Texas State Legislature Lobby Day: Connecting Texas Energy, Y'all!
We’re excited that CCL volunteers will have the opportunity to put their lobbying skills to work at the Texas Legislature’s upcoming session! We’re working with members of the bipartisan Texas Caucus on Climate, Environment and Energy about policy priorities for the session, and we’ll announce a more detailed agenda for our meetings with legislators soon.
Ticket information
We’re working to make this as affordable and accessible as possible. Tickets are free, but we offer an optional donation of $40 to help cover the costs of venue rentals and meals. If you can, please donate! Can't make it and still want to support the event? You can donate online here -- just specify “Texas Legislative Event” in the “Purpose” field.
Dates
March 27 - 28, 2023
Agenda
Monday, March 27: 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm
We'll start our lobby day training at 2:30 pm in the Legislative Conference Center at the Texas Capitol followed by an education session with energy experts and Capitol staff at 4:00, finishing with a social mixer that includes pizza and beer.
Tuesday, March 28: All day
On Tuesday, we'll meet at 8 am at St. David's Episcopal Church (10 minute walk from the Capitol) for breakfast and a final briefing, followed by meetings all day at the Capitol. Reconvene at St. David's for a reception from 5:30 - 7:30 pm, with heavy hors d'oeuvres, open bar, music, and speakers. Catering is provided by Cafe Divine.
Lodging
We have reserved a block of double queen rooms for Monday and Tuesday nights at the Extended Stay America, 507 South 1st St. in Austin, just south of downtown. The group rate is $129 per night plus tax. We are also researching home stays. You can go ahead and reserve your hotel room now by calling 877-701-3383 and giving the group name Citizens’ Climate Education.
If you have a place to share in Austin or are looking for a roommate, please post in the Housing Forum on the CCL 3rd Coast Community page.
Transportation
We encourage carpooling and bus travel (Vonlane, Greyhound, Megabus) if possible to get to the event. St. David's is a 10 minute walk from the Capitol and you can leave your car parked in their lot for $12 for the day on Tuesday. There is also parking close to the Capitol. For information on accessibility at the Capitol, check out the Capitol Accessibility Guide.
By registering for this event, you are giving Citizens' Climate Lobby and Citizens' Climate Education permission to send you email including information about CCL/CCE and how you can volunteer and support our work. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing [email protected].
