About this Event
Join the Teva and the Jewish Council of Scotland (formerly SCoJeC) as we assist the Lothian Amphibian and Reptile Group (Lothian ARG) with their annual toad migration project in Holyrood Park.
Every year toads migrate through Edinburgh's Holyrood Park, but due to the large amount of traffic in the park(cars, bicycles, pedestrians) many don't make it. The project helps the toads along by collecting them from pathways and helping them on their journeys.
We'll be meeting at 6:15 pm for a snack and to learn about toads in Jewish history, culture and tradition, especially relevant as we head towards Pesach/Passover.
At 7:00 pm, we'll begin our work. All equipment (including gloves) will be provided by Lothian ARG, although please bring a bucket and head torch if you have so we have more to go around (if not, we'll share). The migration volunteering takes place from 7:00-10:00 pm, although we understand if you'll need to head away early.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether you're Jewish, Jew-ish, or just curious. While this is an event intended for adults, all ages are welcome, as long as children attend with a parent or guardian and are fully supervised.
Allergy note - All food will be kosher and vegetarian. Please contact [email protected] with any questions about kosher status, allergies, or other dietary requirements.
The event is free to attend, but donations will be accepted to support the work of Teva and the Jewish Council of Scotland (formerly SCoJeC).
