Welcome back to our regular Sunday Movie Night schedule at Terran! This week we're watching what is considered one of the finest comedy films of all time, 1969's "The Diamond Arm" directed by Leonid Gaidai. This Soviet era film is all at once a beautifully shot love letter to silent film and a flat out comedy masterpiece, and the swings between these two make for a highly entertaining picture. Guests are encouraged to arrive around 18:00, with lights going down at 18:20. There will be a brief presentation, and then a discussion will be held. As always, popcorn will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring any other snacks or drinks they might desire."The Diamond Arm" is a 1969 crime comedy directed by Leonid Gaidai. Gaidai is considered "the kind of Soviet Comedy", and "The Diamond Arm" is a masterwork in that space. "The Diamond Arm" is not only a funny film, but it is a frequently beautiful and strange one. A simple set up, criminals trying to steal back their diamonds from a clueless man in a cast, leads to a series of escalating comic mishaps that are so richly colored and beautifully stages that you almost forget that the movie is absolutely hilarious. Very funny movie this time! See you there.
