Join us for a beginner clay workshop at the Studios on the Park in Paso Robles! We will be making a Terra Cotta Ceramic Femme Mug or Tumbler! You will learn the basics of working with clay using the slab construction method and decorating by sculpting and texturing clay. Adriana Lemus will guide you through this two-hour intro to clay workshop and Studios on the Park will provide your first beverage to get the creative juices flowing!
The $85 fee includes terra cotta clay, all materials and tools to use during the workshop, glaze and firing, two hours of instruction by an experienced ceramic artist, AND a glass of wine! Once your pottery is created, you will leave it with the instructor where she will take it back to her studio in San Luis Obispo to be fired, glazed (painted), and fired a second time. This process takes about 4-6 weeks. When complete, your pottery will be brought back to Studios on the Park to be picked up.
Adriana Lemus was born and raised on the Central Coast and has been working with ceramics for 17 years. She studied art at UC Berkeley and has been running her own business for the past 8 years. Adriana creates functional and non-functional ceramic vessels that are made to connect with the soul. Adriana teaches private throwing lessons in her backyard studio, sells her work at local Makers Markets, online, and is currently working on commission work for restaurants, hotels, spas, and homes.
Studios on the Park realizes its commitment by making the creative process available to the public. Studios engages and inspires the San Luis Obispo County community and its visitors with a unique open studio environment. Studios features artists working in a variety of media, educational programs for children and adults, and quality exhibitions by regional, national and international artists.
Due to limited seating, we have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy to reschedule or receive a refund. This will allow us to offer your spot to another guest. However, if you are sick or experiencing any flu like symptoms, we ask that you stay home and reschedule for a future workshop. Thank you for understanding.
