Hilton Head Dance Theatre will present an exciting program of classical and contemporary dance featuring company members and distinguished guest artists on Saturday, March 22nd at 7:30 and Sunday, March 23rd at 2:30. The program takes its name from Terpsichore, the Greek muse of dance, and is always an audience favorite. Dancers and audience members alike enjoy the unique collection of dance genres.
Adult tickets are $20 and students (18 and younger) are $10 plus processing fees. Online ticket sales will close two hours before curtain. Tickets will be available at the door, however we highly encourage you to purchase your tickets in advance.
All performances will be held at the Seahawk Cultural Center at Hilton Head Island High School. Doors will open 30 minutes before each performance. You will receive an email confirmation with your tickets.
The program opens with the wedding scene from the classical ballet Paquita. Paquita will be portrayed by Maya Shimada and her partner, guest artist Brandon Penn, will dance the role of Lucien D’Hervilly.
Ballet Master and Resident Choreographer Jamal Edwards brings back his western themed ballet, Hoedown. Set to the music of American composers Aaron Copeland, Ferde Grofé and Hershey Kay, the piece will feature company dancers and guest artists Brandon Penn and Colibri McMillan.
Sarah Tiller and Jamal Edwards unite in a playful contemporary pas de deux, choreographed by John Carlyle to the music of David Bowie.
Audiences will be treated to a new jazz piece choreographed by Jamal Edwards to the songs of soul icons James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Marvin Gaye.
