
About this Event
Deepen your connection to the natural world during a three-hour experience in the mountains with your guide Kim Bushore-Maki, therapist and adjunct faculty member of the ETSU Nature Based Therapy Graduate Certificate Program.
๐ Over the course of the morning, you will have opportunities to:
- Engage with the natural world
- Shift your perspective around a topic of your choosing
- Restore your nervous system
- Listen to your inner wise voice
- Ground in your body
- Celebrate the season of spring
As with any nature-based activity, this experience is challenged by choice. You may modify or opt out of any invitation that is extended. There will be some light to moderate hiking, so participants will need to be able to walk on uneven terrain without assistance. The location will be within a 30 mile radius (at most) of Johnson City, TN. The exact location will be provided as we get closer to the event date. Carpooling is possible.
๐๏ธ You will need to bring the following items:
- At least one quart of water, preferably two quarts, to drink
- Comfortable shoes with good tread to hike
- Bug repellant
- Sunblock and/or sun blocking clothing/hat
- Snacks
- Journal and pen/pencil
- Blanket, towel, or portable chair to sit upon

โจ Kim Bushore-Maki is a soul-driven entrepreneur who understands the undeniable urge to create a business and a life filled with meaning and purpose. Her vision of opening a center where people could heal and grow led her to open Shakti in the Mountains in Johnson City, Tennessee: a place where the creative, feminine energy is nurtured and valued.
Kim is a licensed professional counselor and a yoga teacher. She completed the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy program as well as the Shake Your Soul Yoga Dance program. Kim is very interested in somatic expressive therapy, archetypal psychology, gardening, herbalism, astrology, wisdom traditions, and regenerative economics.
Kim continues to build and to support inclusive, vibrant communities. She spends most of her time mentoring leaders, guiding healing programs, and providing mental health counseling.
