The opening Fall lecture in the Astronomy Public Lecture Series!Date: 6 Sept 2025
Time: 7:30pm
Location: Ziegler Auditorium, Thomas More University
Talk Description: This summer has been pretty darn hot. But how do those temperatures compare to the extremes found across the universe — from the cold voids of space to the blazing hearts of stars? And how can we even begin to take the temperature of things that are billions of light-years away? Come explore the surprising ways astronomers measure cosmic temperatures, and what it tells us about the history of the universe itself.
Lecture will last approximately 50 minutes, and will be followed by time for observations of the night sky at the observatory. (Weather permitting!)
