Learn the basics of sewing while re-imagining your wardrobe.
- Upcycle clothing from your closet.
- Create a prom outfit from a thrift find.
Skills taught
- Threading and operating a sewing machine safely and independently
- Understanding sewing terms
- How to follow instructions and create a project
- How to identify and correctly use tools
- Measuring marking and cutting increasing varieties of fabrics
- How to progress from straight line-only sewing to navigating curves turning corners and building dimensional projects from flat patterns
- How to identify problems and find solutions
- How to deconstruct and recreate projects
No sewing experience required. Fabric purchase by student. Some fabrics available at RFA at a greatly reduced price. All sewing equipment is provided.
