How many apples did you use in your recipe? Did you select your pumpkin specifically for pie or was it a recycled Jack-O-Lantern?
These are some of the possible questions that you may be asked by our pie judges during November’s Teen Chef: Pie Contest.
Since contestants can enter a pie into each division of the contest, you may need to answer both of them. So please don't recycle your pumpkins by including them in your recipe.
As for the rules:
#1. Contests/bakers must be between the ages of 11 and 17 years old. (Yes, parents can provide verbal instructions but no hands-on assistance)
#2. Pies can have store purchased crusts and/or filler but it must have its ingredients included in your overall list. (NOTE: pies made completely from scratch will receive bonus points).
#3. One pie limit per contestant for each division (apple, pumpkin).
#4. Recipes and a complete list of ingredients must accompany your pie for it to be accepted into the contest. No exceptions.
#5. Scoring will be completed by judges and based on Overall Appearance and Taste Testing.

Contestants will need to register their pies for them to be included in the contest. Registration will begin at 4:30 and end at 5:30pm. Register with name & age of the chef, list of ingredients & recipe, plus division (apple or pumpkin).
A winner will be chosen from each division after all pies have been scored by our judges.
