Teddy Baker began his professional music career as a teenager, performing in Boston’s Back Bay, North End, and downtown districts. Later, he joined the prestigious Airmen of Note, the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C.
Throughout his career, Baker has collaborated with an impressive roster of jazz legends and contemporary artists, including Barry Harris, David Sanborn, Arturo Sandoval, Slide Hampton, Eddie Daniels, Victor Lewis, Jason Moran, Wycliffe Gordon, among many others.
As a recording artist, Baker’s contributions span a variety of acclaimed projects, recording with David Sanborn, Bobby Caldwell, New York Voices, the Bohemian Caverns All-Stars, the Amina Figarova Sextet, and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. His own recordings, Mugshots and Duos Vol. 1, have received high praise from JazzTimes, All About Jazz, and The Washington Post.
