About this Event
Join us to enjoy the delightfully wonderous and intricate sculptures of Ted Gall in his studio gallery in Ojai, California! Be the first to experience his newest series of bronze sculptures based on the sights and spectables of carnivals from his childhood days in Chicago when rides and games were only 5 cents a piece.
Also on exhibit will be an array of sculptures from small to larger than life size and spanning recent years to decades past. The most special part will be to experience them in the artist's own studio property and to be able to engage with him as he shares the stories and nuances that only he can tell.
Ted’s sculptures tend to work in ways that dreams do, presenting familiar images in unexpected combinations and contexts, leaving us to puzzle out what to make of them. He leads us to uncover masks behind masks and behind tableaux, drawing us down to deep places or bringing the depths almost into view, yet never presuming to tell us what we are seeing. As James Hillman has said, “everything within is able to be understood in a double sense, hermetically and metaphorically”, this is to be said of Ted Gall’s work too.
