“It’s the jockey, not the horse.” Venture investors focus on the management team in their funding and valuation decisions. Typical scored valuations attribute 30% to the team, so leading and building the team to manage a new venture is job one for entrepreneurs.
David has founded, and served as Chairman, President, and CEO for a number of private and public companies, primarily in the technology space. As Principal of Den Corporate Advisors for over 20 years, David provides counseling services to businesses from start-up to middle market concerning both their sales and marketing process and their operational structure. Having led the acquisition of over 45 businesses, on both the buy and sale side, he guides businesses through the process of getting the best price when selling their company, and assuring the proper search is made and fair value is paid when pursuing strategic acquisition opportunities. He has served on multiple public and private boards, and his years practicing corporate and securities law all contribute greatly to Mr. Lyons understanding of “how the process works”.
In addition to Den, David sits on the Board of NAMI Southwest CT. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by mental health problems. He has recently started a new blog site, amitfy.com, which focuses on a lifestyle centered around mindfulness and self care, with a business model based on selling through affiliate relationships only.
