Technical Awareness (Tests & Standards)
PLEASE NOTE: There is a $60 range fee that students will be responsible for at the start of class.
Technical Awareness (Tests & Standards) is a 20-hour deep-dive into the motor and mental processes required to achieve consistent, repeatable, on-demand performance with a handgun.
This course is designed to help students discover their individual limits of performance through structured exercises, instructor-led group discussion, and focused feedback. Students will receive individualized coaching and immediate, actionable input to improve both near- and long-term technical skill.
The class is highly student-driven and requires active participation during instructor-facilitated discussions between lesson blocks.
Topics Will Include (but are not limited to):
• Individualized coaching, assessment, and performance optimization
• How to self-diagnose and self-correct
• Recognizing and reducing self-induced pressure during shooting
• Visual process as a tool for tempo control
• Achieving precision without sacrificing speed
• Managing mental and visual focus under load
• Structured reflection on automaticity and performance
Required Gear
(In order of importance)
• Note-taking materials
• Active hearing protection
• Eye protection
• Camp chair
• Hydration & nutrition
• Quality semi-automatic handgun (preferably 15-round capacity; minimum 10-round magazines required)
• The ability to bring at least 60 rounds to the line loaded, via belt-mounted magazines or speed loaders
• Quality belt- or Enigma-mounted open-mouth holster designed specifically for the firearm (or WML) in use
• SERPA-style holsters are not allowed unless issued by an employer as required duty gear. Students wishing to use one must read this link and acknowledge in writing that they are aware of the risks.
• Minimum of three magazine pouches
• Up to 700 rounds of ammunition
• Personal shade device (for outdoor ranges)
• Rain gear (for outdoor ranges)
Cancellation Policy
This is a one-time event with no future offerings currently planned. As such, class credits will not be available for cancellations.
To secure a slot in this course, full payment is required at the time of registration.
Cancellations made within 30 days of the event are non-refundable.
We strongly encourage students to confirm their availability before registering.
If the event is canceled by the host or instructor for any reason, all registered students will receive a full refund within 15 business days.
