Tech Cornwall Explorers: Trailblazers - A Journey into Physical Computing.
Wednesdays after school from 6th November to 11th December, 4pm-6pm.
Dive into the fascinating world of physical computing with "Tech Cornwall Explorers"!
Designed for curious minds aged 10 to 14, this unique 6-week program invites students to embark on an educational adventure, using Raspberry Pi as their guide. Experience a blend of creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, all while learning critical tech skills.
Highlights:
6 Weeks of Interactive Learning: Two-hour sessions each week, packed with engaging discussions and hands-on projects.
From Basics to Build: Start with setting up a Raspberry Pi and progress to constructing your own rover.
Focus on Teamwork: Collaborate, share ideas, and build together in a student-led, inquiry-driven environment.
Session Breakdown:
6th November - Intro to Raspberry Pi: Format the memory, use the GPIO pins, build circuits on breadboards.
3rd November - Basic Electronics: Delve deeper into circuits with LED, buttons and control them with Python
20th November - Python Programming: Unravel the basics of Python and continue to learn more programming language.
27th November- Building a Rover: Combine all your skills to build a simple, functioning rover.
4th December– Program your rover using Python and the Raspberry Pi Pico development board.
11th December – Switch the languages up onto Arduino and the Mission to Mars rovers.
Session line up may change on how a previous session goes and where the students might want to take their learning.
Materials & Resources: Each session comes equipped with all necessary materials, from Raspberry Pi kits to sensors, ensuring a rich, hands-on experience. Plus, our self-assessment form and facilitation guide support continuous learning and reflection.
