Team Teach gives you and your team the confidence and strategies you need to de-escalate challenging situations and reduce the need for physical intervention.

Who is this course for?
Anyone who is operating in a low-risk primary or secondary school setting would benefit from this course, which offers a grounding in positive behaviour management strategies applicable across these environments. This course is for all school staff but ideally a member of SLT should have attended or been trained in Team Teach within the last 2 years.
Participants will learn how to;
- Increase understanding and awareness of behaviour as communication and develop a framework to better respond to reduce risk
- Develop a greater team dynamic in supporting individuals who are distressed, with approaches that have impact and strengthen relationships
- Utilise a toolkit of holistic strategies on de-escalation and crisis intervention, both verbal and non-verbal for supporting with disruptive and distressed behaviours
- Execute simple and safe positive handling techniques including personal safety, appropriate for a low-risk environment (If required by your setting). Our techniques are situated within a respectful, supportive approach to behaviour support strategies which maintains positive relationships
- Following your settings subscription to Team Teach Connect, all attendees will be issued a course completion certificate, valid for 24 months.
8 modules in this course are:
1. Background to Team Teach
2. The Legal Framework
3. Understanding aggression
4. How feelings drive behaviours
5. De-escalation
6. Personal safety
7. Positive Handling – mainly guiding and escorting safely*
8. Repair, reflection and review
*Physical intervention can only be legally used if children are hurting themselves, hurting others or damaging property (The Legal Framework is covered in module 2). Depending on the current behaviours being displayed in your school, the Team Teach trainer will advise on the type of physical intervention you will need to support the children and staff within your setting.
The training is limited to 12 people so please book early. If the course is sold out, please contact us to be placed on a waiting list. New dates will be added throughout the year.
The training course will be held at Aizlewood Business Centre, Aizlewood's Mill, Nursery Street, Sheffield, S3 8GG . Refreshment will be available but lunch is not provided.
Post Training
In January 2024 Team Teach launched a new platform called Team Teach Connect** which is a mandatory chargeable part of all training packages. Subscription to Team Teach Connect is a per setting charge and gives every Team Teach certified individual in your setting access to resources, help and guidance.
