About this Event
The workshop will be led by Dakota Native Sleepy Eye, a respected leader and wisdom keeper of the Dakota tribe. Native Sleepy Eye will provide an in-depth look at the teachings of the red road, a set of beliefs and practices followed by some Native American tribes. The red road emphasizes living in harmony with nature and living a moral and ethical life, and is an integral part of Dakota culture.
During the workshop, Sleepy Eye will share knowledge passed down from the White Buffalo Calf Woman, a revered figure in Dakota tradition who is said to have brought the tribe the sacred pipes and taught them the 7 main ceremonies. These ceremonies, which include the Inipi (sweat lodge) and the Hunkapi (making relatives), are an important part of Dakota spiritual practice.
Attendees of the workshop will have the opportunity to learn about the red road, the White Buffalo Calf Woman, and the Dakota tribe in depth. The workshop will provide a valuable learning experience for those interested in Native American culture and the teachings of the red road.
