To touch someone effectively, we have to be in touch with ourselves, with how we are being and doing what we are doing as we are doing it. If we are tense and out of balance, that is what we will, unbeknownst to us, be communicating through our touch. Likewise, if we are balanced and buoyant, calm and comfortable, secure and supported, relaxed and ready, this is what we will communicate to our student, client, or patient. At the same time, there is a great deal to learn about hands and wrists and how they are designed to work. And there is a great deal to learn about touch itself.
