About this Event

Donna Fowler has over 20 years of experience in early childhood education. Ms. Fowler has worked for Teaching Strategies® for over 11 years. She is currently the Sr. Manager of Learning and Solutions Implementation at Teaching Strategies, LLC, the country’s leading developer of early childhood curriculum, assessment, professional learning, and family engagement. In her role, she manages a team of Subject Matter Experts who support internal and external partners in understanding the science behind Teaching Strategies® solutions and how it supports, teachers, administrators, coaches, children, and families.

Prior to joining Teaching Strategies, LLC, she served as Director of Public Policy at the Maryland State Family Child Care Association (MSFCCA), where she worked to ensure that the laws and regulations governing the association's members were consistent with quality for the children and affordability for their families. In her role, she served on many early childhood education committee such as local and state early childhood associations, the Maryland Governor’s Early Care and Education Advisory Council, and chaired the Maryland State Department of Education’s Office of Child Care Advisory Committee.

With an M.A. in Education from Concordia University and B.A. in Organizational Management from Ashford University, she is committed to understanding how early childhood organization serve and support educators and families in an authentic and appropriate manner.


Introduction to GOLD® (1-Day)

Assessment is a vital piece of an effective teaching practice. During this hands-on 1-day session, participants will examine the importance of ongoing formative assessment and reflect on their current teaching and assessment practices. Participants will practice using a variety of tools to gather authentic information about children’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. By leveraging progressions of development and learning, participants will strengthen their ability to make accurate assessment decisions. Participants will also explore digital tools used to bolster family partnerships and foster two-way communication.


GOLD® for Administrators and Coaches: Using Data to Support Children, Families, and Teachers (1-Day)

During this 1-day session, administrators, coaches, and program leaders will be learn how to support implementation of Teaching Strategies GOLD®. Participants will examine the characteristics of high-quality documentation, discover how to navigate the Assess tab in MyTeachingStrategies®, and explore the powerful reporting resources that can inform data driven decision-making. that support program management, leadership, and data-driven decision-making. Administrators and coaches will identify strategies to support educators throughout the assessment process and will analyze and construct plans to respond to current program data.


Introduction to The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool (1-Day)

This highly interactive 1-day session introduces participants to The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool. Participants will become familiar with the 38 objectives for development and learning that inform every aspect of teaching. They will then explore and practice using the components of the curriculum, including knowledge-building volumes, Teaching Guides, Mighty Minutes®, Intentional Teaching Experiences, Book Discussion Cards™, and, if applicable, Highlights High Five Bilingüe™ and Book Conversation Cards™.


The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool: The First Six Weeks (3 Hours)

The first six weeks of school lay the foundation for the rest of the year. The time invested in building trusting relationships with children and families fosters the creation of a classroom community that values kindness, risk-taking, and exploration. This 3-hour session offers participants specific strategies for using The First Six Weeks: Building Your Classroom Community Teaching Guide and related The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool resources to engage children in meaningful learning experiences and set up and maintain the indoor and outdoor environments. Introduction to The Creative Curriculum® Cloud (3-Hours)

The Creative Curriculum® Cloud couples our leading early childhood curricular resources with powerful digital planning tools to support children, families, and teachers. During this 3-hour session, participants will explore the dynamic teaching resources available in the The Creative Curriculum® Cloud Digital Content Library. Participants will discover the MyTeachingStrategies® Family app and investigate impactful family engagement strategies. Additionally, participants will learn how to streamline their planning and individualize for children using The Creative Curriculum® Cloud.


*A certificate of completion for each session will be emailed to attendees and school administrators.
