About this Event
Teaching Medieval Women is part of a wider project designed via collaboration between Teachers and Academics to bring the lives of medieval women into the teaching of medieval history. This project was borne out of a shared realisation that women were lamentably under-represented in many of the medieval history classes taught at, especially, KS3 and further up the curriculum as well. We hope to remedy this by bringing together teachers and academics to share our respective knowledge and expertise and to produce a variety of materials that are attractive, engaging - and free - to use in the classroom.
The women and the themes we intend to highlight derive from a diverse geographical, religious and ethnic spread, emphasising a fresh, and in part non-European perspective, to the study of the medieval period in schools and colleges.
This CPD day is a forum to share our experiences, to showcase some examples, and to collaborate on materials to understand how best to support the teaching of this topic and attract and engage a new generation of students.

Our CPD day will take place at Nottingham Trent University City Campus on 7 June 2024.
