Did you know your teabags can become art? Tea Bag Art is art using recycled tea bags. Teabags are dried and emptied to produce a thin paper that can be used in a variety of art projects. In this workshop Susan Detroy shows you how to convert a tea bag into multi-use art paper. You can enjoy the adventure of sourcing and creating reusable art paper, then making art with this unexpected household material. Once you have created the teabag art paper, you can make and play with it as an art medium. The paper can be adhered to another surface, collaged or used as a translucent cover. Your imagination is in charge. Your ideas are in free rein. Teabag art papers are used in many of Susan’s art pieces.This workshop is part of The Hybrid’s upcoming exhibition of International Online Art Collective ”Chain Reaction.” “Chain Reaction” a 100 piece traveling art project made by a fourteen IOAC artist from from nine country produced journey over 2 1/2years.
Susan Detroy is a fifty year visual story teller with ten series working in the cross paths of digital and analog media. As a print photographer she constructed unique alternative photo prints, running a business as photographer, and gallery director. Since 2015, using digital camera-phone and iPad editing, Susan responds to unhappy mental messages about aging, creating her ten year Portrait of a Woman project. Ms. Detroy produces films exploring the use of melded AI generated characters with her self portrait as well meditative explorations of the earthly world. Susan’s art uses her life experience and natural elements providing the viewer an intriguing journey, bringing a woman-affirming perspective to her inventive and engaging artworks portraying earth and self-love.
