Join us for a special environment-focused tea featuring Smith College's Beth Hooker, Director of Sustainability & Administrative Director of CEEDS (Center for the Environment, Ecological Design and Sustainability). Beth will be a featured lecturer at College For A Day on Monday, January 13. This event is a chance to connect personally with Beth in advance of that event and ask quesitons about current sustainability initiatives at Smith.
This event is hosted at Treehouse Learning in Louisville/Lafayette, an early childhood education program offering quality childcare and educational experiences. Owned by Amy Benson May '05, Treehouse Learning received Gold Certification from the Colorado Green Business Network. In 2024, Treehouse Learning was awarded the 24-Karat Gold Award for going above and beyond.
Hot tea and light refreshments will be served. This event is free for Smith Club Members and $10 (plus fees) for Non-Members and Guests.
About Beth Hooker
Beth Hooker has extensive experience in education, teaching environmental science and providing institutional sustainability leadership at Mount Holyoke and Hampshire Colleges and Deerfield Academy. At Hampshire, Beth directed a 100-acre educational and production organic farm and led numerous projects to promote regional resiliency, sustainable practices and clean energy technologies. Prior to joining Smith, Beth worked to advance corporate goals and practices to steward freshwater resources at the environmental non-profit, Ceres. Beth received a B.A. from Connecticut College, double majoring in chemistry and Asian studies. She earned an M.S. in soil science and a Ph.D. in ecosystems ecology from the University of Connecticut.
