About this Event
Located just five miles from downtown Nevada City, Rosebud Ranch is a natural amphitheater a stone’s throw from the Old 49 Bridge on the South Yuba River. (You will be contacted within days of your ticket purchase with the exact location and event details) It’s one of those special places on earth where your mood feels instantly elevated once setting foot on the land. An evening at Rosebud is like a full reboot for the soul!
Over the last five years, it has become a coveted destination for music lovers seeking a space that seems to exist in a realm parallel to reality where imagination takes flight into blissful terrain. A trio of shows featuring different projects from Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz rank as the ultimate highlights – magicgravy, Lebo & Friends and Bone Diggers: Paul Simon Dance Jams.
It’s a very relaxed setting where many people set up blankets and chairs on the hillside, bring their own food and beverages, meet new friends and soak up the vibes. Dancers love the spongey astro turf dancefloor which invites freedom of movement unlike any other. Rosebud is an all-ages venue where the music starts early around 7 and ends by 11. Kids 16 and under are free. The bonfire will be roaring and magic will be afoot.
The final Rosebud show of the season features a legendary Bay Area band playing this neck of the woods for the first time. In fact, Tea Leaf Green has become something of a unicorn, only emerging in tune with certain celestial alignments. If you think that equates to a diminished impact, think again. It only means they are ready to be shot out of a cannon as their intrepid spirits are unleashed upon this slice of natural splendor.
Coming up in the early 2000s, Tea Leaf Green experienced a meteoric rise fueled by jawdropping performances and crafty, original songwriting. During their peak era, they used to sell out the Fillmore. They have a signature sound featuring an interwoven, groove-based foundation of roots-rock, Americana soul, cosmic blues and funky jams. The level of musicianship is intricate enough to disarm a nuclear submarine and has only gotten stronger with the band’s “core three” still operating at stratospheric levels.
Guitarist Josh Clark has always been seen as a prodigy, with an unearthly ability to move mountains and redirect rivers and streams. He has that “it factor,” where the whole atmosphere seems to shift once the ideas start flowing from his fingers. An annual heavyweight contributor to High Sierra Music Festival’s Guitarmageddon, Josh is the epitome of a guitar hero.
The other two members have previously graced the Rosebud stage with a pair of Lebo’s projects. If you know Trevor Garrod, then you realize that he is one of the most inspired songwriters of his generation. His wizardry of wordplay matched with extraordinary playing frames him as a mysterious genius operating largely below the radar. Continuing this theme, Scotty Rager is one of the most underrated drummers on the scene. As anyone who saw him at Rosebud with Bone Diggers can attest, the man lives in the groove pocket and knows how to keep the dancefloor lit. Sealing the deal with dynamite new bassist, Jojo, Tea Leaf Green is a quartet ready to launch us into new frontiers.
