About this Event
When Chanoyu, aka Japanese tea ceremony, functions as a βsocial interstice,β (Bourriaud, 1998) the space and moment that unfold on the tatami mats become akin to a theater stage. In this setting, everyone present is expected to actively participate and contribute, thereby completing the artwork. This participatory performance transforms Chanoyu from a cultural demonstration β where people are mere spectators of the tradition which carries 500 years of history, into a cultural experience where participants become co-creators of the living practice.
$30 per ticket to be seated on tatami mats to join the tea ceremony to be served Matcha and small sweets.
