TE HIRIHIRI O TE RAA celebrates the 40th anniversary of the 1985 Waitangi landfall of the Hawaiian voyaging canoe Hōkūleʻa, the birth of the Hawaiian Tribe Ngāti Ruwāhia, the Maori Voyaging Legacy, and three extraordinary kaumātua, the Late Sir James Henare, Sir Hector Busby, and Hawaiian leader Myron Pinky Thompson. Please feel free to share the panui. You are all welcome to circulate and distribute it out to your contacts so everyone can join us in Waitangi 14-16 Nov 2025.
Here is a reminder of the kaupapa for the arrival of Hokulea and Hikianalia. Go to this link for the Ngati Ruawaahia History - https://vimeo.com/462293721?fl=pl&fe=vl
The next step is to invite you all to a logistics and event coordination hui. The main agenda will be gathering sponsorship, support and delegating tasks to those who have the time and energy to help honour the legacy of our kaumatua, Nga Hapu O Ngapuhi me to matou hononga ki a Ngati Ruawaahia.
We'd obviously appreciate any helping hands and kaimahi to embrace the kaupapa so we can make it a huge success and do us all proud.
Any patai, feel free to contact me.
