Join Te Ara Kākāriki for a tour of two native planting sites, meet the Te Ara Kākāriki team, an inspiring landowner and be guided through the sites by ecologist Dr Colin Meurk. This event is for anyone who is interested in:
- Learning about Canterbury biodiversity
- Planting natives on their own property
- Joining us for a volunteer planting day
SITE ONE 10AM is on Swamp Rd, Springston, just off Bethels Rd. We have been planting here with the landowner and volunteers since 2016 and there is now a stunning 1.5ha greendot.
SITE TWO 11.30AM is Reids Pit Park, cnr Weedons Rd and Selwyn Rd, Rolleston. Te Ara Kākāriki volunteers planted over 1200 seedlings at this ex gravel pit turned recreation reserve in 2018, join us to see how much it has grown.
