The lore of our ancestors constitutes an important pillar of our identities. We grow up hearing stories about the long-gone times, the mythological narratives from which we construct ideas about our native lands, our communities, and no less importantly about ourselves. We learn about national myths and heroes, may they be fictional or based on a real foundation, we sing songs pertaining to the folk heritage, and throughout the year, we take part in rituals and festivities related to the Christian and the pre-Christian tradition in one way or another... Drawing from this multifaceted ancestral well, we construct, we narrate, we imagine.
