On Valentine’s Day, Triangle Calligrapher's Guild very own Harriet Davis will be teaching Fun with Folded Pens. We will start by making folded pens, practicing on different types of paper, then lettering a final piece - a single letter or word - on cold-pressed watercolor paper.Suggested supply list:
- Any folded (or ruling) pen you already have and would like to use
- About 8-12 sheets of cold-pressed watercolor paper or any paper with a rough texture. 8 x 10, 11 x 14, or 11 x 17 sizes will work well. Harriet will have paper to share
- A few watercolors and/or thin inks, of choice
- A small watercolor brush
- Any metallic ink, of choice
About Harriet:
Harriet took her first class, Italic, in 1979 and immediately fell in love with the letters and the practice. After taking one more class, she continued learning from books on her own. Discovering TCG and CLAS, as well as participating in Reggie Ezell’s yearlong course, improved her skills. Over the years, she’s sold individual pieces, cards, and taken commissions. Harriet loves learning alongside her cherished fellow members. She enjoys creating art with pen, ink, watercolor, and most recently, oil paints. She’s active in the arts ministry at her church and treasures traveling as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren. Harriet has served our guild for many years as librarian, vice-president, and president.
This event is free for TCG members.
Non-members can join our workshop for a fee of $10. Payment may be made either in-person with cash or via PayPal.
