TCD loves new dancers and we put significant energy into giving them a supportive experience. Twice a month, we sponsor contra dances that are open to all. Several times a year, when there is a fifth Friday, we often decide to limit attendance to experienced dancers. This is a hard line to draw, but to borrow from other communities who offer such dances, you'll be fine if you are:• Comfortable with the basic moves including heys, mad robins and working with wavy lines.
• Know where to be at the start of each dance phrase and how to recover from a lapse.
• Know how to offer flourishes and do them safely and on time without disturbing others, and know how to decline a flourish offer.
• Respond to confusion and missteps by others with grace, encouragement and good humor.

We hope to have a workshop aimed at experienced dancers at 7:30, then dancing starts at 8:00.
No fragrances, please.
Wear comfortable soft-soled shoes and cool, comfortable clothes. No partner expected, and masks are fine.
Sliding scale: $12 to $25, cash or card.
