A 2 day IN-PERSON 6th & 7th July OR via Hybrid delivery Day 1 18th June ONLINE & Day 2 - 7th July In-Person, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) Foundation workshop for Clinicians, Health & Mental Health Professionals, Therapists, health/clinical educators & therapeutic support staff, or people working with individuals and communities who have experienced trauma.
This 2 day Trauma Informed Yoga Workshop, will introduce those working in the mental and physical health fields, clinical & health education fields, individual and group therapies and/or clinical settings to the foundations, to the core concepts and applications of the highly regarded, evidence based yoga program, TC-TSY, for adults and youth affected by PTSD, CPTSD, developmental, and/or complex trauma, dissociative disorders and other related emotional and behavioural difficulties. Developed at the Trauma Center since 2003, a part of Justice Resource Institute, JRI since 2006 & the flagship program of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI.
This 20hr workshop is the ONLY Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Workshop/trainings accredited by JRI & the Directors of the Center for Trauma & Embodiment at JRI David Emerson & Jennifer Turner. TCTSY, or Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, is the Yoga Program from "The Body Keeps the Score" by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, "Trauma Sensitive Yoga in Therapy: Bringing the Body into Treatment" by David Emerson & "Overcoming Trauma through Yoga : Reclaiming Your Body" by David Emerson & Elizabeth Hopper.
This workshop is intended to inspire therapeutic and clinical staff and health support workers to bring the body into treatment when working with people affected by traumatic stress and complex trauma. With more Trauma focussed yoga trainings becoming available you can be assured that this workshop introduces you to practices and principles that have continued to be researched since 2003, practised clinically & in yoga studios in over 40 countries & with communities across the globe. You will be introduced to specific trauma-aware and trauma-informed practices and theory to support you to facilitate evidence-based trauma aware movement, yoga postures and breath practices into your therapeutic practice,. You will be able to participate in demonstrations, practices, discussions, as well as facilitate parts of the TCTSY program, and receive an introduction to:
- The relationship of TC-TSY on Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory and Neuroscience & Interoceptive Theory
- Neurophysiology & Biology of Stress and Trauma in relation to body based therapies
- Spectrum of Trauma Impacts & Complex Trauma as Lived Experience
- Power and Oppression & it's impact on the body, in therapy & with therapeutic relationships
- Some of the core theoretical underpinnings and methods of the TC-TSY model that can be applied to facilitating trauma-sensitive somatic practices
- Building Trauma Sensitive Relationships
- TSY Practice and Practice Facilitation and Applications of Trauma aware and Trauma-sensitive yoga
- Benefits and Challenges in Implementing TSY & an overview of Studies on TCTSY
Workshop Delivery:
In-Person Delivery 6-7 July 2023 9.30am to 5pm,
OR Hybrid Online 18 Jun and In-Person Delivery 7 July, 9.30am to 5pm, with online resources.
Local TCTSY Facilitators will also be present supporting the workshop, led by international Trainer, Kristen Pringle.
You will receive:
- 2 days of in-person training (12 in-person contact hours) with Licensed TCTSY Trainers (currently only 20 worldwide) - Over 8 hours of content to review and keep to make up the 20hr equivalency. Includes: powerpoint slide handouts, nearly 4 hours of pre-workshop video content (including David Emerson and Jenn Turner training videos, trauma sensitive yoga practice videos from TCTSY Trainers and more), TCTSY scripts, written resource material and links
Pre-recorded: material will be provided to you one week prior to the workshop.

Facilitated by Senior Endorsed Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Clinician, Yoga Therapist and TCTSY Facilitator, Certification Lecturer & Mentor, and Licenced Trainer Kristen Pringle, this workshop is the only 20hr Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Workshop/training in Singapore accredited by the Center for Trauma and Embodiment and David Emerson.
