About this Event

We’re closing out summer in style at the TC-BEN End of Summer Social! On Friday, September 19, join us at the stunning Rand Tower Hotel, where a glass atrium, outdoor terrace, and retractable roof set the scene for a night of connection, culture, and inspiration.

This year, we’re adding something special: a fireside chat featuring powerhouse leader Sharon Smith-Akinsanya, CEO of Rae Mackenzie Group and founder of the People of Color Career Fair. In her bold and engaging style, Sharon will deliver real talk on the importance of relationships, from starting conversations in unfamiliar spaces to transforming introductions into lasting opportunities. She’ll draw on her journey as a CEO and changemaker to highlight why networking is the “secret sauce” to success, and how showing up authentically can open doors you never imagined.

Hosted by TC-BEN’s own connector-in-chief, Marla Etheridge, Director of Events & Corporate Partnerships.

This isn’t a lecture—it’s a bold, live, podcast-style conversation that reimagines networking. Expect real talk designed to inspire, energize, and connect. The chat sparks the fire, and the after-party keeps it glowing.

Attendees will walk away with:

  • Strategies for building authentic relationships that last
  • Confidence to advocate for yourself and your worth
  • Inspiration to see networking as your most powerful tool

Bonus: Sharon will touch on what DEI shifts really mean — and how to stay ready.
