Welcome to the TBFF Kids Festival!
The 14th annual Toronto Black Film Festival (TBFF) proudly presents the 9th edition of the TBFF Family Day Festival. Join us in inspiring and empowering children through the exploration of films, family friendly shows, crafts, storytelling, and more. The celebration takes place on Family Day, February 16th, 2026 , at the Carlton Cinema from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
In this year's TBFF Family Day Festival, we're excited to present a program filled with free activities for the family. Brace yourselves for an array of activities that promise an enriching experience for every child. From captivating arts & crafts, dance and storytelling, we are geared up to make this Family Day an unforgettable journey for our young participants. Join us for an exciting blend of entertainment, education, and creativity at the TBFF Family Day Festival!

Arts n Crafts with VIBE Arts
Info: Zine making with VIBE Arts: Join our lead artist Jassira De Almeida to make zines focusing on black identity and traditions. Using collage, drawing and mixed media visual art supplies, participants may create zines based on a tradition they celebrate. The zine will be unique to them as they get to reflect on something special to them!
Afro/Caribbean Dance with Riddim Cultural Arts Program
Info: The Riddim Cultural Arts Program offers an engaging dance workshop for children aged 4-8, led by an experienced Afro-Caribbean dance instructor. This workshop introduces participants to both traditional and contemporary Afro-Caribbean dance styles while teaching them new moves in a fun and supportive environment. By the end of the session, participants will have mastered a choreographed routine, ready to showcase to friends and family.
Yoga & Meditation with Higher Love Yoga & Wellness
Info: Higher Love Yoga & Wellness will lead a family-friendly wellness session for TBFF Family Day, featuring gentle movement and mindful breathing for children and families. Participants will also receive a DIY Mala Bracelet take-home kit, introducing simple mindfulness practices and the cultural significance of beads within African and African-diaspora traditions. The session is inclusive, trauma-informed, and designed to support creativity, calm, and cultural connection.
Face Painting with Maxine
Info: Celebrate Black joy, creativity, and culture with vibrant face painting by Maxine! Kids can choose from a range of playful and Afrocentric designs. It’s a fun, expressive way to wear their pride and imagination on their faces!
Colour & Crafts at The Colouring Bar
Info: The Colouring Bar is a mobile art and wellness activation that blends creativity, mindfulness, and joyful play in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Designed for festivals, community events, and cultural celebrations, the experience invites participants of all ages to slow down, connect, and express themselves through hands-on art activities.
The activation features multiple creative stations—including colouring, crafting, and interactive challenges—while incorporating original artwork, thoughtful facilitation, and a visually engaging setup. The experience supports mental wellness, community connection, and artistic exploration, making it an ideal addition to film festivals and cultural events seeking meaningful audience engagement.
