About this Event
Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and Rhiannon Giddens walk into a bar…
…and order an alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage of their choosing and talk about what it means to be a resilient and creative woman. Which, in this writing circle, is what we will do, too.
In this three-part miniseries (September 12, 19, 26), we’ll focus on women singer/songwriters like Taylor, Bey, and Rhiannon. We will reflect on the release of Tortured Poets’ Department (that’s where we put the apostrophe) and the collab of Beyonce and MacArthur Genius Grant-winning Rhiannon Giddens. We’ll use their songs and others' as the jumping off point for diving into our own journeys of resilience, relevance, permission, and creativity. Swifties, non-Swifties, BeyHive, fans of bluegrass, and fans of emo or screamo, all are welcome at a writing circle that's really about the music of community and selfhood.
This circle will be facilitated by Anna Jacobson. Open to anyone of any age (old souls and young ones) who identifies as a woman. We will create a supportive, non-threatening environment for all who participate.
