About this Event

Taylor McCall continues to grow musically and as a man. With a smoky Marlboro Man voice and intricately crafted lyrics with wisdom of elders, he was divinely born to play music. What you don’t know about Taylor though, is the prowess and command he has playing the guitar.

Taylor is a self taught guitarist, but that puts it mildly. After spending time with some renowned artists and guitar players most come away saying something along the lines of, “I don’t even know what chord that is or what you’re doing.” His creativity is boundless, taking any idea of rules, or chords in this case, creating and forging his own way.

At the age of 8 Taylor got his first guitar and began crafting his songs. “Even though I was writing songs that I thought were pretty good, I was reluctant to play them for anyone because I was not very confident in my voice”. In fact, Taylor did not sing live until he was 18-years old. McCall continues to find himself as he has been inspired by artists like Sturgill Simpson, Ry Cooder and Pops Staples.

Recently Taylor was featured on the MeatEater Podcast hosted by Steven Rinella. Since then things have taken a beautiful trajectory. Aside from multiple shows at the Bluebird Cafe, Taylor had the opportunity to go on tour with Daniel Donato. Taylor has recorded a full length studio album Southern Heat (2017) as well as an EP (2019), in 2020 released single “Quartermaster” which has earned over 400K streams. He rolled in the year by releasing the song, “The Hounds”, which you can find on various playlists like Indigo and New Music Nashville and has been featured on Emerging Americana, also amassing 400K streams.
