Biography:
JAMIE TAYLOR
Jamie has built a strong reputation throughout the UK and overseas, as a dynamic jazz guitarist and teacher. His playing has been heard at a long list of clubs and festivals, such as Ronnie Scott's, The Vortex, Pizza Express Jazz Club, Manchester Jazz Festival, Birmingham Jazz, Wakefield Jazz, Sheffield Jazz, Leeds Jazz, RNCM Manchester, Scarborough Jazz Festival, The Jazz Bar Edinburgh, The Blue Lamp Aberdeen and The Bonington Theatre Nottingham amongst many others.
​Jamie appears frequently with drummer Sebastiaan De Krom's resident trio at the legendary Troubadour club in London's Earl's Court, usually alongside organist Pete Whittaker, or regular bassists Jeremy Brown and Steve Watts. Meanwhile, his collaboration with fellow guitarist Sam Dunn is a recurrent feature of Ronnie's Scott's 'Two For The Road' duo series. Jamie has worked with many notable jazz musicians among them Baptiste Herbin, Wayne Escoffery, Sheryl Bailey, John Stowell, John Goldsby, Bart DeFoort, Kate Williams, Tori Freestone, Roni Ben-Hur, Steve Fishwick, Alan Barnes, and Graham Harvey.
​In the educational field, Jamie is a Principal Lecturer in Jazz Guitar on the degree programme at Leeds Conservatoire.
RICAHRD ILES
Richard is a an acomplished jazz trumpeter. As a member of the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra, he gained valuable experience in jazz. After leaving the Leeds College of Music in 1980 he became a founding member of the Creative Jazz Orchestra, performing with Kenny Wheeler, Mike Gibbs, Anthony Braxton, Vince Mendoza, Peter Erskine, and Bill Frisell.
He worked with the Northern Underground Orchestra led by Tim Garland and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra directed by Tommy Smith. As a member of the latter, he accompanied Joe Lovano, Kurt Elling, John Scofield, and Gary Burton. He has written music for the nine-piece Miniature Brass Emporium and leads his band, the Richard Iles Group. Iles became a member of the Mike Gibbs band and participated in the recording By the Way. In 2000, he released From Hear to There with music for small and large ensembles.
He was hired as Musical Director of the Jazz Orchestra at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and directs the jazz orchestra at Bolton Music Service. He is a principal lecturer in Jazz at Leeds College of Music, teaching trumpet and musical direction.
BEN CROSLAND
Bassist Ben Crosland has been leading bands for over 30 years. He has recorded a series of critically acclaimed albums, released on his independent Jazz Cat label, with the cream of UK jazz musicians including Alan Skidmore, Dave O’Higgins, Jim Mullen, Mark Nightingale, Steve Waterman, John Etheridge, Jim Hart, Theo Travis, Alan Barnes, Martin Shaw, Steve Lodder, Dylan Howe, Chris Allard and Barnaby Dickinson.

Ticket Prices / Availability:
Tickets are priced at £14.00 per person (plus 0.35p booking fee). Tickets can be purchased online via the Huddersfield Jazz website, or on the door on the date of the event.
Note: Payment on the door can now be made by card.
Tickets will be limited to the venue fire safety capacity. Huddersfield Jazz & The Irish Centre reserve the right to refuse entry.
Start/Finish Times / Refreshments:
As per past events the gig will start at 2pm and aim to finishing around 4pm (dependant on performance timings) with a short mid session break. Full bar facilities will be available on the day.

Car parking is available on the street / in the car parks opposite the Irish Centre.
