Colonial Days 2024 was such a success we are doing it again at Heritage Park! This historical event brings the 18th century to life with an immersive weekend of reenactments, demonstrations, and hands-on experiences.
Presented by the Taylor Historical Commission and Society, the event opens to the public on Saturday, June 7 (9a.m. - 5p.m.) and Sunday, June 8 (9a.m. - 4p.m.), with free admission for all visitors.
Step Back in Time
Guests will have the chance to explore authentic 18th-century military and civilian camps, interact with reenactors, and witness live demonstrations, including:
• British & American Military Drills
• Battle Reenactments (Saturday & Sunday at 3 p.m.)
• Fashion Shows (Daily at 2 p.m.), where soldiers explain their uniforms and ladies' fashions are on display
• Mini Militia for Kids (Daily at 1 p.m.), where children can train as Revolutionary War-era soldiers with wooden muskets
• Open-fire Cooking Demonstrations, where reenactors prepare meals as they did centuries ago
Each day will kick off with Opening Colours and conclude with Closing Colours, offering a full spectrum of historical experiences.
Explore Historic Buildings
In addition to the reenactments, the Taylor Historical Commission and Historical Society will open several historic sites within the park:
• The Log Cabin – One of the oldest homes in Taylor
• Jared Sexton Town Hall – Home to a gift shop with unique items and fresh hot popcorn and beverages for purchase
• Heritage One-Room Schoolhouse – A preserved classroom featuring desks, slates, McGuffey Readers, and even a dunce cap corner
• Taylor Historical Museum – Located in the historic Knope Farmhouse, featuring exhibits that highlight Taylor’s past and other historical artifact.
