With help from MPI’s Matariki Tu Rakau fund, we are planting the last 500 native plants for our Ōwhiro Stream Restoration Project. We have been working on this project for 2 years; alongside our partners and WCC, and since 2022 our mission has been to plant 20,000 native trees in Ōwhiro Bay, these efforts will help clean up the stream that feeds the Taputeranga marine reserve. This is our last year for this planting project! Let's come together, dig deep, and nurture the roots of tomorrow. Every tree planted is a gift to the earth and a promise of a greener future.
Activities will include: planting a variety of native plants like mingimingi, ti kouka, manuka and kanuka, and much more.
CVNZ will provide all of the tools/equipment required as well gloves and vests. We will also provide morning tea refreshments, however, you will need to bring your own packed lunch and a full water bottle.
Please wear: long sleeved clothing to protect yourself from cuts and scratches, a hat, waterproof jacket and sturdy, covered footwear.
Volunteers are welcome to meet our team onsite, or get a ride in our CVNZ van. *We can transport upto 9 people, please contact Simerrah at [email protected] or call 021 774 258 to check our availability as we have limited seats.
