On Sunday the 22nd of February 2026 we will be exploring the radical history of Hobart pubs - from the formation of early unions to social movements and regular meeting places for the rebellious. We will be meeting at 12 at the Shipwright’s Arms in Battery Point, then making our way through Hobart’s historic working class pubs to hear the stories of radicalism and rebellion.
Joint us on the tour will be Professor Michael Quinlan, Professor Hamish Maxwell-Stewart and a number of speakers to tell the stories that shaped our island.
The tour will require walking up to 10 minutes between our 5 venues (details TBA), and will take the full afternoon.
You can meet us at one of the later venues if walking between any of the announced venues will be an issue, so you don’t have to miss the whole tour if you can’t make one of the stops.
There will be more details announced in the lead up, so keep the whole afternoon free if you don’t want to miss out - WATCH THIS SPACE! 😃
