From their home port in the Lehigh Valley of Eastern Pennsylvania, Ken Purcell and Jake Laubach, travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region performing as “The Jolly Roving Tar”s. For more than a decade, the “Tars” have performed a broad variety of historical maritime, Irish and Americana music at tall ship festivals, heritage fairs, museums, taverns and private events, even on a tall ship under tow and on a rolling steam train. Their harmonious vocals are accompanied by claw-hammer banjo, guitar, concertina and assorted percussion. The focus of their performance this evening will be ballads, shanties and historical songs honoring the navvys, miners, canallers, sailors and laborers whose strength and endurance provided the manpower to drive the Industrial Revolution. Their musical fare will offer a tasty sampling of long-gone occupations, with ample servings of audience engagement, a side of whimsical ditties, all seasoned with some spicy and salty songs to satisfy discriminating and mature tastes.Performances at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm
