About this Event
The tour, led by our knowledgeable volunteers, will predominately explore the town’s history in the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, including the role the Market House Trust played in its development.
The location, conditions and remaining footprint of the courts where poorer people lived will be looked at, as well as a range of influences, such as the “Gin Craze”, electric lighting and art deco.
The role of some key Tauntonians will be discussed, including a man who designed an iconic American building.
Walking duration approximately 2hrs.
The tour will start at the Museum of Somerset.
