Hi All!I hope you have had a great Summer.
Sunday 7th September sees a return to the Lawns for our Taunton Sunday Folk Tunes session.
Very much looking forward to seeing you there!
For those who are new to us we usually start the afternoon with half a dozen tunes which are listed in advance to get us going and to give some people the chance to prepare if they want to. After that we go around the circle and everyone gets the opportunity to suggest tunes. We have a large collection of tunes in different pdf files to choose from, allowing those who read to join in, but tunes not yet in the files are welcome too. Sometimes people have brought a few paper copies of a tune to put around on tables, or have performed new tunes to the group when it was their turn. Occasionally we’ll have a song or two! We like to think of ourselves as a gentle introduction to the more conventional trad sessions!
Here are my suggestions for starters in the 7th September session.
From the Traditional Tunes file (check you have version 15!) Banish Misfortune, Dennis Murphy’s Polka and The Road to Lisdoonvarna.
From the LDL file. (August 25 Edition) we’ll try Quantockside, Walter’s Ash and The Watchet Harbour Waltz.
In the FB group files section you will also find pdf files called ‘A set of three’ and other set ideas from March. People may choose to use these so it’s a good idea to have them all available. (Not printed though! That would use up a small forest!)
We play from 2.30 to 4.30 . If you’re parking at the Lawns don’t forget to put your Car Registration into the computer at the bar. Parking is free as long as you’re entered in the system!
See you on 7th!
