About this Event

LIVE PERFORMANCES BY:

Dakota Jones is a New York based band that blends vintage blues with modern soul to create a genre-bending sound, both familiar and refreshing. Spearheaded by Tristan Carter-Jones’s commanding vocals and visceral songwriting, their stage show melds the hell-hath-no-fury power of Chaka Khan, the wild spontaneity of Janis Joplin, and the honey-dripping sensuality of Marvin Gaye. Since its inception in 2016, the band has built a loyal following in the NYC area, and become regulars at some of the city’s most-respected venues.

Darlin! the Band is a synth/electro-pop Brooklyn outfit formed in 2019. For years, lead singer Johnny Darlin was a staple in New York's open mic and queer underground theatre scene. He played his original songs on a bejeweled keytar at Fringe Festivals and in blackbox theatres, working up a theatrical sweat in his wedding dress. Meanwhile, Ben (guitars), Can (drums), and Wes (synth/bass) were cutting their teeth in iconic New York City venues with other bands, including Mind Over Time and The Avalon Hi-Fi. Together now, they create a fusion of the two worlds - introspective songwriting about trying to find love whilst struggling to find yourself - mixed with the intricate musicality of twinkling synths, driven by a pulsing groove and rhythm. Their latest music video for "Breathe," a song about having both an anxiety disorder and a Grindr account, was released (via Grindr Music Weekly) earlier this spring.

Jill Blutt is an artist, songwriter, producer, and overall really nice, cool and chill person. Born and raised in New York City, Jill enjoys the simple pleasures in life such as late nights, loud music, and avoiding things like long walks on beaches. Jill’s music blends melancholy dream pop elements with a sprinkle of muck and mire, modernizing lyric-forward sentimentality against a contemporary instrumental backdrop. What emerges is a timelessly nostalgic love letter to the loneliness of the human existence—the perfect soundtrack to staring contemplatively out the window on your way home from the club at five AM.
