Tastes of the Archipelagos: A Journey Through Movement, and Taste! This month? Cuisine from Bali!

Join Andrew Suseno of Moving Rasa, & Chef Shandra Woworuntu of Selera Kitchen for a Special Private Dining Event & Workshop!

Join us for an unforgettable evening in an old historic building in Elmhurst as we explore the Flavors of Bali through movement, taste, and connection. This unique collaboration between Moving Rasa, created by Andrew Suseno, and the esteemed Shandra Woworuntu invites you to sharpen your food tasting experiences by deepening your discernment of Rasa.

In Indonesian, Rasa means taste, as we will do with Balinese food—but it also refers to the emergent essence that arises in any relationship we encounter in life. The practice of Moving Rasa creates playful, embodied spaces—mini laboratories—that encourage us to question how we receive, savor, and engage with our experiences. Through movement improvisation and interactive games, we explore presence, boundary-making, and the art of relishing life’s flavors.

Immerse yourself in:

The rich culinary flavors (rasa) of Bali, crafted with care and storytelling by Shandra Woworuntu. Movement explorations led by Andrew Suseno, creator of Moving Rasa, inviting you to attune your body and senses to the experience of Rasa. The rich interweaving of two different approaches to Rasa into one shared experience. This is more than a tasting; it's an opportunity to reconnect to yourself, your body, and the stories carried by flavors and movement.

About the Hosts:

Shandra Woworuntu is a celebrated chef known for blending her Indonesian heritage with culinary creativity, using food as a medium to inspire and empower others. She is author of her own cookbook called "A Taste for Freedom," showcasing dishes such as : Peruvian Seafood Ceviche, Hiroshi Zaru Soba, Korean Tofu Kimchi and African Ginger Pineapple Drink. And her recipes appear in many other articles and cookbooks, including one by the League of Kitchens who she has been working as the Indonesian instructor for several years. Shandra is also founder of Mentari. Their mission is to mentor and empower survivors of human trafficking and gender-based violence, facilitating their independent reintegration into society. She is excited to launch her own business Selera Kitchen this year!

Andrew Suseno, creator of Moving Rasa, is a movement facilitator and cultural practitioner who combines somatic awareness and improvisation to help individuals reconnect to their essence (Rasa), weaving physical, mental, and spiritual practices into healing and liberation. In 2023 Moving Rasa was awarded the American Rescue Plan grant to develop culturally specific programming for AAPI Survivors of Sexual Assault and men's consciousness programs. He merges physical, emotional, and ancestral awareness to foster healing, empowerment, and collective transformation.

Don’t miss this chance to sharpen your food tasting experiences, move, and reconnect to Rasa.
